a journalist's thought about Yumiko's work

 

Yumiko Takata was born and grew up in Kobe, Japan.

In 1979 she started working with the sculptor Shintani Hideo in Kobe and began her  career in sculpture.

In 1985, she registered at the school of Interior design “ULIDA” in Ashiya, and received her diploma in 1987.

After having worked as an interior coordinator at the Department Store “Daimaru” in Kobe, she founded an architectural Interior design studio, “Atelier Fantasia”, in Kobe in 1989. Within this studio, Yumiko also displayed and sold her art.

After several successful art and design exhibitions in Japan, she decided to move to Italy in 2000. She then held exhibitions of her work in various cities in Italy, such as Florence, Sciacca and Perugia.

While continuing to work with her pieces of sculpture in Perugia, she started learning the technique of bucchero (a type of black pottery invented by the Etruscans).

In 2005, she started to create her own jewellery collection “Zen” and soon after she trademarked her jewellery brand “Yumiko Takata” at the Chamber of Commerce for Industry, SME and Agriculture (CCIAA) in Italy.

In 2007, Yumiko obtained a diploma in sculpture from the Accademia di Belle Arti “Pietro Vannucci” in Perugia.

Yumiko lives in Italy at the moment.
